Policy - Eligibility
Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to state the eligibility requirements and verification process for playing ice hockey for Hayfield Ice Hockey Club.

Background

The Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League currently does not have an approved set of operating rules.

USA Hockey

All players must be members of USA Hockey. Players who play for a club team (NVHC, PW, Reston) normally have their membership fees paid for by that club. Other players will need to join USA Hockey at a cost of $25.

Eligibility Requirements for Hayfield Middle School Team

Must be a full time student at Hayfield Secondary attending 7^th or 8^th grade

Eligibility Requirements for Hayfield High School Team

Must be a full time student at Hayfield Secondary attending 9^th-12^th grade, or for the 2001-2002 season a full time student attending 9^th-12^th grade at another FCPS high school/secondary school that does not currently have an ice hockey program (Lee, Mt Vernon, West Potomac or Edison)

Must not have reached your nineteenth birthday on or before the first day of August of the current school year.
Must not, after entering the ninth grade for the first time, have been enrolled in or been eligible for enrollment in high school more than eight consecutive semesters

Verification Process

All players are required to submit a photocopy of their birth certificate when registering with Hayfield Ice Hockey Club for the first time.

Ineligible Players

Ineligible Players may practice with the team, but may not play or be on the bench for any USA Hockey game, NVSHL game, or tournament.

The Board of Directors may impose a reduced fee for players registering for practices only, if space permits. This applies to players who are not eligible to play at time of registration only. No jerseys will be included.
